HENRY WELCOMES REFERENDUM ON ASSEMBLY POWERS

Heddiw, mae Henry Jones-Davies, ymgeisydd y Blaid ym Mhreseli Penfro wedi rhoi croeso brwd i'r newyddion fod Syr Emyr Jones Parry yn argymell Refferendwm ar gynyddu pwerau'r Cynulliad Cenedlaethol. "Mae'n bryd i ni droi'r Cynulliad i mewn i senedd go iawn i Gymru," meddai Henry.

Henry Jones-Davies, Plaid Cymru Parliamentary candidate for Preseli Pembrokeshire said he was delighted that today's All Wales Convention report recommended that the Welsh Assembly be given full law-making powers.

"This is tremendous news, and we need to move forward swiftly with the promised referendum to see this through to a positive conclusion."

"It is quite clear from the report that a “Yes” vote on increased powers is winnable, and will set our National Assembly firmly on the road to becoming a proper parliament answerable to the people of Wales.

"The current system is both flawed and confusing - even Cardiff's most senior civil servants are dissatisfied with the arrogance and condescension with which Wales's problems are viewed in London.

“Pembrokeshire suffered terribly under the Conservative governments of the 1980s and 1990s. A stronger National Assembly can legislate and plan to ensure that the well-being of all parts of Wales is taken into account so we never face a repeat of those times.

“At one of the most critical and uncertain periods in recent economic history, it's time for us to stand up for our own communities. No-one else can or will. This report gives a great boost to Welsh democracy."
